One Adoption West Yorkshire

We are One Adoption West Yorkshire; we provide adoption services across West Yorkshire. We are the result of a programme of work which saw local authority adoption services from Bradford, Calderdale, Kirklees, Leeds and Wakefield join together.

Adopting a child is rewarding and life changing

About One Adoption West Yorkshire

One Adoption West Yorkshire is a regional adoption agency providing adoption services for the five West Yorkshire councils: Bradford, Calderdale, Kirklees, Leeds and Wakefield.

We offer an innovative and adopter friendly approach to adopter recruitment, finding families for children in care, and long-term post adoption support.

We believe that all children deserve to grow up in a loving, stable family and dedicate all our time and energy to find those families and provide them with the training and support to help them thrive.

By bringing together adoption professionals from councils across the region we can provide even higher levels of expertise and support to our adoptive families at all stages of the adoption process. We also work closely with our adoptive parents and with their inspiration and direction we ensure that we provide the kind of support that families want and need. We also work with adopters, adopted children, birth families, the voluntary and private sectors to deliver a range of adoption support services.

Adoption is an exciting, challenging and life changing experience for everyone involved. We are seeking adoptive parents from all walks of life to reflect the range of children we have who are looking for a secure home with patience, understanding and loving kindness.

Melanie and Pete

Melanie and Pete had hoped to have their own children but after IVF was unsuccessful, decided to go along to a local adoption information event

We had been together for 10 years before we went along to the local authority adoption information evening. I was 30 and Pete was 35 at the time. Pete was a bit doubtful at first, but he met an old school friend when we were there and this seemed to help him to warm to the idea. Also we have friends who have adopted, and my cousins are adopted, so I think we started out with a reasonable awareness of adoption, its challenges and rewards.
