About One Adoption South Yorkshire

We are One Adoption South Yorkshire; we are currently four individual adoption agencies (Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council, Doncaster Children’s Services Trust, Rotherham Metropolitcan Borough Council and Sheffield City Council) working together to provide adoption services across South Yorkshire. In due course our adoption teams will combine to create one single agency.

We provide training and support for those wanting to adopt a child right the way through the process. We have expert social work staff on hand to provide guidance and advice for those wanting to know more about adoption. We carry out assessment and training for those wishing to adopt, as well as finding families for children needing adoption and providing adoption support.

We also work with adopters, adopted children, birth families, the voluntary and private sectors to deliver a range of adoption support services. We believe that every child has the right to a stable, permanent, loving home.

‘We’d been married for about five years when we decided to explore the possibility of adopting a child. Our initial contact with our local adoption service quickly led to a home visit and then we were invited to attend a preparatory course. ’
